Objective: SWBAT
compare/contrast the theme and point-of-view of a book to the theme and
point-of-view of a film.
Do-Now: Adults
often keep certain things secret from children in order to avoid scaring
them If you were an adult during the
Holocaust, how might you have described the concentration camps to your child?
Today: 1) Class
will review “Night.” What is gained by
reading a book written from the perspective of a Holocaust survivor, rather
than an outsider?
2) Class
will begin to watch “The Boy in Striped Pajamas.” What effect is gained by having the story
viewed from the perspective of the boy?
How is this similar/different from Elie’s perspective in “Night.”
Exit Slip: How
is the story of the Holocaust different when seen from the German boy’s point
of view? Explain.
