Objective: SWBAT compare/contrast the theme and point-of-view of a book to the theme and point-of-view of a film.

Do-Now: Adults often keep certain things secret from children in order to avoid scaring them  If you were an adult during the Holocaust, how might you have described the concentration camps to your child?

Today: 1) Class will review “Night.”  What is gained by reading a book written from the perspective of a Holocaust survivor, rather than an outsider?

2) Class will begin to watch “The Boy in Striped Pajamas.”  What effect is gained by having the story viewed from the perspective of the boy?  How is this similar/different from Elie’s perspective in “Night.”

Exit Slip: How is the story of the Holocaust different when seen from the German boy’s point of view?  Explain.
