Objective: SWBAT describe how the townspeople's views on the German invasion represent dramatic irony.

Do-Now: What does Moshe the Beadle claim he saw when he was sent out of town?  (Refer to the middle of pg. 4)  Why aren't the townspeople willing to believe him?  Do you believe his story?  Explain why or why not.

Today: 1) Class will continue to read section 1 of "Night."  Why are the townspeople not worried when the Germans arrive?  How does this represent situational irony?

2) Students will continue to complete questions for section 1 of "Night."

Exit Slip: Why do you believe the people in Elie's town remain so oblivious as to what's happening in the world around them?  Why are they so unwilling to believe anything is wrong?  How might this lead to their downfall?
